  • do you know what the exact problem is and how they fixed it??? becuz my mbp has the exact same problem and the apple store here wants to replace the screen which'll take around six weeks and loads of money...

  • i had applecare apparently so they replaced the screen...

  • so yeah....I was able to bring it in to apple and they took it in no problem.... covered under warranty... but now I think I have to bring it back b/c I have a dead pixel....i guess 1 is ok..but if it spreads, I'm bringing it back!!

  • I had that EXACT same thing happen to me except eventually it started wiping out the whole screen and it turned white instead of black later on. It was really trippy, but after I sent it in to Apple, they fixed and I haven't gotten that problem ever since.

  • so i take it warranty covered this..?

  • Damn! My Screen Is Doing That On The Same Laptop U Got In The Video. The only thing is that mines has 6gb of Ram and it also have a 750gb hd

  • Damn! My Screen Is Doing That Now. WTF!

  • Up until tonight I was smacking the back of the monitor but now the problem has gotten worse. Thanks to Darcy4 for her advice about the binder clip. Now I can safely backup my files and relax while taking my mbp to apple care. I was starting to get really freaked out mainly about not having my recent work which of course I didn't backup before hand.

  • So I just called apple support. They suggested a hardware reset. Shut down computer, upon restart, hold command+option+p+r.

I've been dealing with the same issue on my MBP. I'll be tempted to try opening up the computer to insulate the black cable if my recent "remedy" fails.

Has anyone had a successful operation doing such?

  • I've been having this exact problem with my MBP since January; my solution has been having a binder clip clamping down a wad of paper on to the right side of the LCD. However, over time, it has gotten more picky about placement, and now my laptop is basically immobile, since any movement causes the screen to stop working.

Does anyone know if it is just the LCD that has the problem, or if the whole case needs replacement? I'm not on Applecare any more, and it will be a $750 repair otherwise.

  • Same problem here, not dropped or abused in any way. Using a different mac now but my dad has my old one so he's stuck with this annoying problem.

And his backlight just went out today, so that's another problem entirely.

  • creepy

  • hmm frezzing pixels happend to min went away 1-2 mins after working on it :.

  • NVIDIA publicly acknowledged a higher than normal failure rate for some of their graphics processors. After an Apple-led investigation, Apple has determined that some MacBook Pro computers with the NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT graphics processor may be affected. If the NVIDIA graphics processor in your MacBook Pro has failed, or fails within three years of the original date of purchase, a repair will be done free of charge, even if your MacBook Pro is out of warranty.
