BF2142 Gameplay/Packet Loss

Shows both some sample Titan gameplay, and also the prominent packet loss (jerkyness) at certain points throughout the game, especially on the Titan, and even at a ground-based spawn (see in particular the 5:30 mark onwards).

I actually felt sorry for half the people I killed in this video, because most of it was fluke. The guns are inaccurate enough as it is - combined with packet loss BF2142 becomes more of a lottery than a game of skill.

My hardware could run the game 2 or 3 sessions at once, and I have the very same problem, either on a 20 mb or a 1mb net access... that's just about netcode, don't even bother changing your ISP.

BTW, a 1mb/s connection is "FAR" more than enough for every single game there's around today.

Wow... I've got a high end rig, just a crappy internet, so i guess that's whats making me have packet losses... Good thing it's not my laptop ^_^

Well my pc isn't any better than yours but i can play it with 64 players smoothly with all settings maxed out... try lowering your resolution

Nope. The server's more congested and the server owner may not have the connection speed to fully compensate. That or the netcode isn't too hot. (probably both)

When I go to a 64 player server compared to a 24 player server in BF2 I lag like hell. In 24 player server, the game is smooth and all. Is there something that can be done about it??? My specs:

ALIENWARE ALX, AMD ATHLON 64 FX-57 2.8GHZ, 2gb Memory, 250gb HD, 2x7800GTX SLI, AGEIA PHYSX CARD, 650W Power Supply, Liquid Cooling, Windows Xp and 7.1 Surround Sound.

My BF2 in game video settings:

1680 x 1050, All high, Dynamic light and shadows on Medium, 4 x AA.

You call that stutter issues. You should try playing on a server with a higher latency than 100 on my computer. It's damn near impossible to do anything.

Yeah these stutter issues can become very annoying. It happens in conquest too (both internode/GA) and can become annoying when the parachute fails to open when you leap off a two story building or catwalk even while spamming the jump key.
