Last weekend I started working on a way to use my Android phone as a recording device / amp for practicing guitar. I built a simple thing that lets me plug my guitar directly into the phone. (The idea I had is similar to irig on iphone, and this could also be used with the irig application on iphone if you are too cheap to buy the official hardware)

  • Ewwww ur hairy!!!!

  • @lilvfr400boy could you upload a video showing ghetto amp? I cant find any videos on it, and I Would love to know how to get the irig adapter to work on it

  • @badboykane ahh k cool.

  • @ukijhu97

iRig exists for any device, iRig is simply the hardware to plug into the 3.5mm headphone jack on the phone, the iRig device fits into an Android phone just perfectly.

It is the Amplitube software that doesn't exist for Android just yet, it is in development, IK Multimedia have stated this in their forums. It is still in development but I would suspect Amplitube app to come to Android a couple months or so after the release of Android 4.0.

  • @lilvfr400boy irig doesnt exist for android..what are you saying?

  • we got the same phone :D

  • @twst1 yeah, really! duh, the whole point of stereo was for orientation of sound on a stage. if you have a guitar, it doesn't need to be stereo! the only problem is when you connect it directly to something for recording which has only been done in recent years. just my two cents, I've been hearing that all day when trying to figure out how to use garage band. i have htc evo because all the plans for i-phone sucked. sprint was good, but they're going down the shitter. sorry, I've been drinking.

  • guess i should've got an i-pad. hell, it would do anything i use my laptop for. can anyone tell me a good midi interface for a mac that doesn't cost $200? i bought the jumbo jack to mini plug but i guess a $1400 macbook pro isn't enough money to put an audio input jack on it too. any advice is welcomed. thanks.

  • yeah, but your guitar is mono...right?
