September Fifteenth - Pat Metheny & Lyle Mays from the Movie: Fandango (1985) and CD " As Falls Wichita, So Falls Wichita Falls" (1981) * Pat Metheny - Guitars and Bass * Lyle Mays - Piano, keyboards, organ, and synthesizers * Nana Vasconcelos - Drums and Percussion

The track "September Fifteenth" is in reference to September 15, 1980, the day the legendary American jazz pianist Bill Evans died. Metheny and Mays cite Evans as a main influence.

  • The first time I heard/saw this,it instantly became my favourite piece of piano music. It fitted the film scene so beautifully.I was convinced it was actually from the original film score!!! So imagine my delight and surprise when I discovered,20 years later!!! that it was Pat Metheny and Lyle Mays and only PART of an amazing track. It is down to kind people like yourself on YouTube that helped me to discover this to which I am so,so grateful. It is absolutely beautiful.

    All the very best

    Sandy

  • @Scinders Hello Sandy, well..., what can I tell you ? Thank you for your kind and sincere words, it was my pleasure.

  • Such lovely work, this film, this music. Nothing ever fit anything better. In fact, I discovered Pat Metheny through this film some twenty years ago. It speaks, it transcends, as the movie does, color, religion...Thank you.

  • @ssm3141 I like it a lot when people write describing this kind of feelings that the movie and Pat's music make them feel. And thank you my friend for comment and your kind words.

  • good job !!

    Thanks!

  • Your welcome, Glad you like it !!!

  • @keeter1955

Yes! That's it. It makes me feel great because it takes me back to a place of fond memories . That's one of the many things I love about music- where it sends us. :-)

  • @Scinders

Fandango is one of my favorite movies, partly because of the several Pat Methany Group songs. I watch the last third of the movie quite frequently at night in bed. Takes me back in time...

  • My fave piece of piano music ever...

  • Lovely thanks for share.... one of my fav tunes from Pat... or may i say this is pretty much Lyle's best ones...
