Jojo Mayer is a remarkable drummer whose masterful and innovative technique bridges the gap between the worlds of traditional jazz and electronica, the son of a touring musician, Jojo Mayer received his first drum kit at the age of 2, and began playing professionally at 17. He went on to back jazz greats like Dizzy Gillespie and Nina Simone, before transitioning into drum n bass electronica where his mind-boggling abilities allowed him to play beats usually only achievable with drum programming. His instructional DVD "Secret Weapons of the Modern Drummer" has been hailed the "Rosetta Stone of drumming technique."
