  • Very well said my friend. Isn't all this bullshit. All the ppl making the reform should be required to adopt the plan so they are afraid of screwing everyone else over. Why does it seem that everyone in a gov. position has a conflict of interest of somesort like bpartoens said? oh and cool username! hahaha

  • Senator, you mention the oath that Dr's take to do no harm. What about the duty the US elected offiicals have to represent the people in his district and not the corporations and lobbyists(incl. AMA ) that have made large donations to them? What about elected officials who have alot of stock in health industries?

It is "We the People", Senator, not "We the Corporations whose only concern is profits, not the public's wealfare"

Surrender your tax payer paid health plan Senator, then talk.

  • Wow get money back if you dont get sick!!! Maybe people will quit smoking and get out of the chair and walk and lose some weight so they can get the health tax rebate, Wait that might lower the cost burden on the public option and the cost to the people that buy in to the system, Wait then more people will want to get in the public option,Wait now the private system will have to lower prices to compete. Ooooo thats why they are fighting it so hard.

  • Just spit baling but we need a box to check on their income tax form to buy into a non profit system based on a percentage of income welfare income included(the less you make the less you pay)and this money can only be used for health care for people that check the box and pay into the system(For health care only not pork)If someone pays in to the system and doesnt use it they should get a percentage of the money back in the form of a tax refund this should cut down on the sore toe doctor calls

  • We need a public option in some form maybe we can cut out some of the wasteful spending like wars and pork and invest in America. WTF government tax revenue is over 3 trillion dollars a year. We can pay for a war machine that is 3X bigger then the rest of the world combined but we cant cover health care.

  • Right that type of Public Option could work. It would be harder to pass but doable & worth trying.

A new public, independent, self financed Health Care Insurance company that operated independently but was owned by the Federal Government could work if it's part of a broader Comprehensive Health Care Reform Bill.

  • Single payer system is NOT the public plan. The public plan would compete with the private plans the same way USPS competes with FedEx and UPS. I truly don't trust that insurance companies in their own would transfer any of the benefits of a 100% mandate to health coverage to patients.

  • Also I think a few Republican Senators would vote for a Public Option if it competes with private insurers, is self financed, it's part of a broader Comprehensive Health Care Reform Bill & they agree to some other terms that Republicans support like preventive care, tax credits to buy Health Insurance & tax credits for out of pocket Health Care expenses.

  • If the Senate Democratic Leadership takes the approach that there has to be a Single Payer System to replace the Health Care System, then they won't pass any Health Care Reform Bill this year. There wouldn't be any Republican support for it & they would lose a lot of Democratic votes. If the Senate Democrats come out for a Public Option which would compete with private insurers & be self financed, then most if not all of the Senate Democrats would vote for it.

  • Many in opposition to the public plan use the "180 million losing their health insurance"; well, this is a lie or half-truth at best. The same report says that actually those 180 would switch because they would receive the same level of coverage at a much lower cost (not free). The same report shows that the scenario will decrease administrative costs for physicians by 36.5% !! Look for the Lewin Group report and you will see these figures. I don't understand why many Senators lie.
