Now given the fact that I spent most of the election season over at a board where they had a thread (among many) devoted to cheering for the "Bradley Effect" and at least one guy there was enthusiastically cheering for the hope that America was still racist enough a country to deny Obama the Presidency on account of his being a black man, it seems that a certain segment of the population (approx. 23% of them actually) still wish to cling to the America of the past, the racist America, the America who can't, who won't.
That obama won not just with black votes, but with white votes, with old votes, with young votes, with Latino votes, with Asian votes, with liberal votes and with conservative votes, with atheist votes and with religious votes hows that the spirit of pessimism and the spirit of hatred will not, hell, it CANNOT prevail. And the "real America" showed these loathsome people that their dismal vision of the country was not whre we all wanted to be. "Bradley Effect". Phsss.
That is why Robinson won the Pulitzer. he articulated that spirit of change, hope, and possibility that was builing from iowa and forward, as eloquently as humanly possible, I think.
boo! religious brainwashing is one of our worst problems in america
