Rabbi Steinsaltz elaborates on the various proscribed medicines in the Talmud. He notes that most medicinal treatments recommended are verbal, with little from animal and mineral products. The medicine in the Talmud seemed to remain rather independent from medicine of its surrounding culture (e.g. four-humor theory of humorism). He suggests that this may have been one reason why Jewish doctors moved away from Talmudic medicinal recommendations. The Rabbi also highlights certain medical achievements of Talmudic medicine.
@TheWonderlandmotel as long as you mean "nation" = "nonjew nation". There is but no example of using "goy" as pointing on any jew, or jews. And don't even try "goy kaddesh", because that is irrelevant in the topic.
Now according to common use, dictionaries and even jewish lexicons, not to mention use of the word in the Talmud, "goy" means "nonjew" either as nation or by persona.

@gagnashdiak the word "goy" in Jewish or Hebrew terminoligy does indeed mean "nation" and when we speek of "goyim" we mean nations. What may cause confusion is when you hear the word "goy" used by a Jew to describe a nonJew. If you are looking for clarity this may help. If you are looking to hate it may be lacking. Shalom ppl

@RedsNMaduroMan "Goy" doesn't mean "nation". It means "nonjew nation". There's a solid difference.

@gagnashdiak "Goy" means "nation."
The term used for pagan in the talmud is "akum" (worshippers of stars and constellations."
