This is my version of Lady Gay (stop sniggering at the back there), an old Buell Kazzee song which I think also goes under the name of the Wife of Usher's Well.

  • Yankee boy, up north? I'm in the UK, and in the West Midlands, hehe.

  • i found a version in the Seeger 'how to play 5 string banjo' book. but that only got me started, then i just listened to the tune by Kazzee and figured it out from there. you need eDGBD (although I'm not sure I'm actually tuned to that here), then play around the 3rd and 4th strings for the first and 4th line of the song, and the top string fretted at 2 (I think) for the 2nd and 3rd line of the song. It'll come to you.
