We've been asked the question, why are YOU PEOPLE chaining yourselves to doghouses? You ain't no dogs!

These usually come from pit bull fighters (not that they are admitting they are pit bull fighters, they are pretending to be pit bull LOVERS) who think that it's just fine and dandy to chain up their pit bulls or other big dogs for life.

And then they wonder why people want to ban their breed? You make your dog unsocialized and aggressive by chaining him or her, give them free access to any small child wandering up, and are surprised by the outcome? What planet are you from?

The fact is, chaining a dog for life isn't right, dogs deserve SO much better, and we chain ourselves to doghouses because they have no voice. They have no ability to say "I don't want to be here, I want to be with YOU." They can't say that in a way most humans understand or listen to. So we're saying it for them.

Please, become an advocate for chained dogs. Take a stand in your area against this abuse, and expect your law enforcement to enforce laws limiting cruelty.

  • People who cahin their dogs all the time should be arrested and fined and the dogs removed. PLUS, issue a citation which restricts them from owning an animal at all! NO CHAINS EVER!

  • Chaining any animal for any length of time is cruel. There may be some reason to secure an animal for safety until a remedy can be made. Never for over an hour. Any person should find a temporary place to keep the animal. Calling the shelter would be better than chaining a dog. Chain yourself for a couple of hours and see what I'm talking about!

  • @snowwolf776 This is about people who keep their dogs tied up all the time. Chaining your dog while you go outside or while you're doing yard work is just fine. You still do other things with your dog and actually take the chain off. They aren't stuck in the same dirty spot day in and day out. That is a much different issue and that is what they are speaking about.

  • I have rececctly been asked this question by a couple who are friends of mine. If the person is outside with the dog while dog is on the chain is it ok,if the person is were he/she can see the dog meaning outside with the dog just doing yard work ? Of course the person takes the dog back in the house when the person is done outside.

  • @94hah Then dont have a dog..or let them in the house and live with you!

  • i never understood why the hell anybody would want a dog if you're just gonna chain it up? If you're gonna chain the dog up don't bother having a dog. i hate seeing dogs chained up and they don't get any socialization, not much or no attention is paid to them at all.......................just NOT RIGHT

  • i really wish they would pass some kind of law in Tennessee so that owners can't chain their dogs to ANYTHING.

  • it sounds to me like a lot of people don't understand the reasons for everyone doing this chain off. Its to help dogs who are kept chained up,i myself would love to do the chain off,and help to,but there is not enough people interested in East Asheville that im aware of. Due to that fact i still raised money by walking, and makeing a fundraiser. I plan on seeing if i can get some friends involved this year.

  • @94hah: Then that person shouldn't have a dog.

  • I understand why you do this. But what if you live in the city and don't have a fenced in yeard and need to chain your dog up?
