When the crows weren't scared any more when I knocked on the window, I thought of a wireless doorbell I bought for less than the price of the included batteries at a sale. Fastened it to the garage near the bird feeder and it makes a "cuckoo" sound when I feel they've been hogging the feeder too much. Then the small birds get their chance.
Might try putting it in the pea patch next spring when the sprouts are coming up. Crows have gotten a taste for pulling up the peas.
