Doctors do NOT have expertise in "running healthcare", contrary to what this man implies.
Im a doctor in the UK - this woman clearly has no idea how the NHS works, she has just heard that NICE dont recommend that the public pay for the absolute most expensive treatments unless they have an evidence base proving they work. There is only so much money, and the system here is fantastic value for money.
The ignorance about the NHS system being bandied around in the US at the mo is staggering.

Duh. Doctors will make the healthcare decisions even if we had dollar-one cost coverage by govt. insurance. That's because most care in already in the private sector. For the amount we pay, $2.5T/year we could afford dollar one coverage tomorrow.
