Quick review of the Extech 382270 bench supply.

To sum it up:
Pros:
- 4 Outputs
- Small footprint
- Large meter display
- Good power on (no overshoot).

Cons:
- Output On/Off turns off the meters (so you can NOT see to adjust the output unless it's live).
- PCB mounted pots.
- Loud fan that is not speed controlled (only on or off).
- Selection indicator for V/A meter displays is not intuitive.

  • Thanks for the detailed review. Did you ever get the Instek SPD-3606, like you mentioned at the end? If so, are you happy with it?

  • @RandyNLA I did get the SPD-3606 and I am very happy with it. The only complaint I have so far is there is no fine/coarse adjustment... but it is not a big problem as I really needed higher voltage and current from this supply. I have a GPS-3030DD for more precision work. If I get some time I will post a review of the SPD-3606.
