The Cassie Collection (P.O.V.) -

I pulled the polka-dot towel off that was resting on top of my face and lazily grabbed for my beach bag. The song Good Girls Go Bad by Cobra Starship was going off, which meant my best friend Jessica was calling.

"Hey babe," I answered.
"Hey hun," she responded. "Meet me by the lifeguard chair. I have major news."
"Tell me."
"Just meet me here."
"Okay, be there in two."

I hit the red, end call button and began to gather my crap together. You would think that only one person wouldn't bring too much for a few hours in the sun. That totally wasn't the case when it came to me. The sand was unbearably hot and the sun didn't seem to stop blazing in my eyes.

Those were the one things I forgot, sunglasses.

I started at the lifeguard chair, which didn't seem too far away. But of course, I was wrong. The burning sand began to sink in between my toes, making me jump with every step I took. The tourists didn't seem to help either. One lady shook her towel out right when I passed by. You would think people had a little more courtesy. A little boy and his sister ran by, blowing a bunch of sand at me. To top it off, some fat guy walked by and accidentally tripped on a toy shovel, dropping the scoop of vanilla ice cream placed on top of a waffle cone on my leg. Disgusting.

He must have apologized a million times and I must have said it's okay a bunch of times before I could start to feel the vanilla melt on my leg, and slowly backed away. I heard my phone go off again and the same Good Girl Go Bad ring tone go off again. I gave out an ugh type sound and pressed the ignore button on the side of my phone.

The lifeguard chair came into close sight and I quickly hurried over before anything else bad could happen to me. Megan was leaning on the side of the white painted wood trying to get as far under shade as she could.

"Meg!" I called to her.
"Finally!" she let out a long sigh and walked toward me. "What's that crap all over your leg?"
"Some guy dropped ice cream. Can we just get back up to the boardwalk so I can wipe it off."
"Gross. Yeah please, I'm dying under the sun and seriously, I can start to feel the flesh burn off my body and I think I'm getting red."
"Same here. So, you had news?"

We began our trip back to the boardwalk, which was like a mile away from the actual beach, so we had a while to go.

"Britt texted me this morning," Megan started, "and she said that Charlie called her last night and told her that Scott wants to go to the fireworks on the fourth."
"Meg, everyone goes to the fireworks on the Fourth of July," I giggly answered.
"No duh, but he wants to go with you! "
"No way! I don't think so. I mean the only time I used to talk to him was in Spanish class, eighth period."
"Well, yeah he does. I mean he doesn't just go inviting girls to see fireworks with him Cas. This is a once every year thing."
"I guess so, but he's so the school player."
"So, ugh, he's hot. Come on Cas! These things don't happen every day!"
"He only wants ass."
"Wait, this isn't about Nick, is it?"
"What!? Psh, no way. I've.. moved on, yeah. He was a jerk."
"It so is! Look don't make your life so boring because of one guy!"
"That one guy was a serious jerk and it's hard to totally move on after that. I shouldn't think things are going to turn out perfect anymore, because you think that and it's just one more lie. That one guy taught me that. - I'm just keeping my guards up, that's all."
"Whoa, Cas. I totally understand. It's like that one time Frankie wanted to do it and I was like no way and it was over between us."
"Not really like that, Meg."
"Oh. So, you're not gonna go with Scott?"
"You told me my life shouldn't be so boring anymore, so maybe we'll see him there." I let out a giggle.
"Trust me, you'll do more than see!"

We finally made it to the boardwalk. I brushed off the dangling particles of sand hanging from my feet and lower legs and slipped my flip flops on.

"I'm tired. I'm gonna go back home and take a nap. I'll call you later though, love you," I told Megan.
"You too," she blew a kiss to me and we headed our separate ways.

There weren't too many people on the boardwalk, considering it was still daytime and most of them were on the beach. There were the occasional joggers, people that wanted to go on the rides, and tourists looking for something to eat, but that was really it. Everyone, and what I mean by everyone is the teenagers, came back at night.

Beep beep! I heard my phone go off, new text message. I pulled out my phone and began to read the message. Out of all people it was my mom. Seriously, whose mom texts their child. I quickly hit the home button and was about to -

Just when I was about to put my phone away, I quickly found myself on the wooden boardwalk floor with some kid, well I shouldn't say kid because this was a guy, a seriously hot guy.
