Me and my friend Fabian demonstrating a few simple points on the art of DUMOG- i.e. the art of moving pushing and pulling people around in combat. In my eyes proficiency with the art of moving people is paramount if you wat to successfully apll y wristlocks or throws. So while what I show comes from a curriculum of escrima, kali or silat, it applies to all the wrestling arts.

Take care and have a nice day

  • i dont know...but it looks similar to Jkd and wing chun trapping hand=)

  • @IgaShinobis LOL ;)) Thanks for dropping by and commenting. You are right: The hubud lubud drill - aka Tie-And-Untie drill exists ins variations in both Wing Chun and in the Southeastern arts from the Filipines Indonesia and Malaysia. There are many similarities. Here I actually weave some Tai Chi push hands in. I am not offensive enough in this clip to call it JKD or Wing Chun. But add forward Intent to my moves and ther you have it.

  • Silk that was an excellent video thank you so much for sharing it with us. Dumog is Phillipino wrestling right ? It looks like you have put on some muscle you look fit and good. Thumbs up. A funny ending as well.

  • @DTGtaihojutsu Thanks Rick. Your oppinion is always important to me.

Dumog for the most part is the art of wrestling, although it encompasses lots of joint lock manneuvers taht are practiced out of the hubud drills. So wrestling and joint lokcs. But the way I learened it stresssed that in order to successfully apply such locks you must either shock the other guy with some good strikes first, or you must be able to move the other guy anyway. So for me it is the art of moving people.

    take care

  • One thing I noticed when you where showing that you can't move him when pressing his strong side was that your belly was pretty exposed to his second fist. I sometimes am able to lure Skall into that position but since he started KFM he actually uses a lot of the "moving points" you just showed. It is a bit scary how little one can do against some throws... what would you do against a throw that uses the elbow brought down with complete body weight on you breast bone?

  • @blacksilkblacksilk I totally agree, I think balance is one of the main things that separates a tough man boxer from a solid boxing practitioner. and also I've seen a lot of cops get into an altercation and they fall down and it ends up being a grappling match. Not that they got taken down, but because they lost their balance, during the collision/exchange of force.

  • @wmpyr Thanks for the comment. I think you just helped me to find an idea. In my experience systematically breaking the opponents base - while paramount in the wrestling arts - is equally important in the striking arts. I think that is a good deal of what chi sao // hubud // pushing hands an what the names may be is about.

    Take care man

  • Hi Silk, another excellent video, you mention a critical concept imo, if you cannot move the body the timing is wrong for a submission. In BJJ this took me a long time to discover, that is why they teach the sweep to beginners. If you don't break their base, and try a submission they can resist, and when fighters do not break the base many times they get slammed, prime example, Ricardo Arona VS Quinton Jackson, he was in position to get a triangle choke but Quinton was in solid base.
