Helen gives a botanical painting lesson using Eucalyptus ficifolia as the botanical subject. The Eucalypt flowers require a pink undercoat to achieve the luminosity they exhibit in the wild.

  • @jmoasrecf Thanks for your comments - I run 5 day workshops in July and Jan in Botanical Illustration if you are interested, otherwise there are other courses. Look at my website and let me know and I'll see what I can do to help

  • Those arn't just watercolor are they? That deep green leaf looked darker than watercolors normally do. I love it. How long did this take...its beautiful.

  • this is unreal... in the good way! :)

  • awesome!

  • This is amazing Helen

I myself am a student Landscape Design in Holland, so this is very inspiring to see :)

  • Beautiful. Thanks for posting this. (Do I hear a dog in the background? Hee hee.)

  • Did you always paint so well or did it take a lot of practice? I'm amazed, but also being a painter myself I feel insignificant so I wondered.

  • Mil felicitaciones, grandiosa en lo que hace, en su labor...

  • For those interested in this tree...The Red Flowering Gum tree was reclassified due to DNA analysis. The correct botanical name is Corymbia ficifolia.
