they were clapping along half confused/feared though... kind of like Archie... Fantasia's performance was fail

From what I saw and what I made out of the performance they were actually enjoying it. Fantasia's performance was amazing her voice was good her entertainment quality was good, better than some of the "average" performances that come from mainstream artists today.

From what I saw the audience reacted the same way to everything Sanjaya did on the show, and they reacted the same to every messed up lyric forgotten performance too. They're in the studio of the world's #1 show they're bound to be like that, it doesn't necessarily prove anything. If it was really that good I'm sure the judges wouldn't mind standing up for Fantasia, Paula got up HALFWAY and sat back down, the final applaud wasn't even that good.
