Great programme- dozens of happy childhood Sunday evenings spent watching it.
What garbage gets churned out by comparison these days. In the 70s and 80s the BBC licence fee could have been ten times higher - but today they should abolish it!

Thanks! I loved watching this so much!

I'm reading this book now, I can't help but picturing these actors, and It's hard trying to suppress my cackling in public. The description of the rubber suit at 5:58 was hilarious.

@bigwoolleypenguin Yes Sigried had a moustache but that wasn't during the Series. After S3, they recorded two movies, one in '83 and one in '85. The movie made in in ''85 he had a moustache!. So your memory is till ok!

@hezkyden Surgery was from 6 to 7 O'Clock, as Mrs Hall told him,so he evidently went for surgery outside those hours.

What's happened to Chris Timothy's nose?

A British show I had never heard of became my favorite show of all time over the course of a month. I've never been to England (American) but somehow this show makes me homesick for a place and time I've never experienced.

@lordpatthethird
As far as I'm aware, only the TV series and special episodes were made with the cast in the video above. However, some films were made with a different cast - just search on Wikipedia for the details. :)

Can you tell me when that 3 part All Creatures documentary you posted was filmed? Also do you know where if it can be purchased?

The 'All Creatures' series was set in the fictional village of Darrowby. The real James Herriot practised in the village of Thirsk, but Askrigg was the village used in the TV series, with countryside locations filmed in Swaledale and Wensleydale. I don't think the documentary can be purchased, although I know the TV series is available on the online BBC shop.
