This song was written when I lived in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan (yeah, that's a real place! Great name, eh?)
It was an attempt to get my angry emotions out and make a song a little less sullen.
I can't remember which girlfriend this was written for now-- but it's one of those songs that works for almost any situation.
Here are the lyrics:
It's a thing called common love
Even though it's so hard to;
I must say good bye. We both have to try.
It's a thing called self-respect
Even though I don't want to,
I must let it die. We must stop the lie.
Chorus:
Let's keep looking and maybe we'll find.
Must keep hoping, not looking behind.
'Cause if you don't respect me darlin' for just who I am,
Then I'll keep looking. Na na nah, na na nah.
It's a thing called make believe
Dreaming you will me.
But you see so much wrong, and I have dreamt to long.
