For me, the loss of William Redfield is up there with the loss of John Cazale. An actor who could have truly made his mark on the history and form of acting for the screen had he been given the full career filled with powerful roles like Harding that he deserved.

the guy who played harding was diagnosed with leukemia while filming this movie, and even though he knew he would die soon, he acted the hell out of this role! he died one year after the movie was realesed

Actor playing Harding was dying of cancer when he did this scene. Let that shit deepen your appreciation.

This one scene alone, is much better than some of the bs films they make today.

the look Jack exchanges with nurse Ratchet is so perfect, Its like all the dialog that went on up until that look...that's genius film making. its a perfect ending to that scene.
