Richard Thompson is the greatest living guitar player on the planet. Thompson is also consistently underrated...what an amazing song writer, singer and performer. Thank you so much posting this! ;-)

@Dionysos37 His father was Scottish. As were his main musical influences - bagpipe music and Jimmy Shand to be specific.

Agreed. Funny quotes...and true too! :-)

That's Billy Connolly, one of Britain's funniest comedian's, he's Scotish as you can probably tell.
Be warned! he has a foul mouth, but he's as funny as hell.
He has a few DVD's out, get at least one, he has a go at everybody from Religious zealot's to Masons, from Royalty to Politicians.

RT says his father had a touch of Irish---though everybody says that of course. And Irish was/is a big strain of his influences. That's all I meant.
-
Er... Thompson isn't Irish.

Another incredible period of them wild Irish dervishes becoming mothers of achievement! Imagine a country that goes out of its way not to tax writers! What you get out of that kind of soul is Richard Thompsons (and James Joyces)
Linda Thompson never gets her props as an excellent vocalist. I'm glad to see her singing again.
