Here is a better video to show you that the Line 6 Spider Valve amplifier can play all sorts of metal. The distortion on this amp is better than a Mesa Boogie Triple Rectifier (in my opinion!) and has many capabilities with the assortment of effects.

My settings:
- As I Lay Dying preset
- Presence knob adjusted to my liking

My set up here:
- Line 6 HD100 Head
- Crate 4x12 Cab (in the market for Mesa cab)
- Custom Guitar with EMG81 Active Pickups

  • i wouldn't call this metal. sounds like its from some screamo or "hardcore" nonsense

  • @sholto7 Oh yeah, I forgot that Pantera and Metallica can only be described as metal, right? Hah, where do you think today's music got its inspiration and influence from? Think about it mate, metal doesn't mean just one sound.

  • @JustinShreds wow, you really are down with the metal. pantera & metallica were the first bands you thought of? try some nevermore, decapitated or gojira on for size, thats metal...screamo or hardcore or whatever it is you people call it isn't. adding distorted guitar to something with whiny self indulgent lyrics doesn't make it metal, imagine how it would sound if johnny marr cranked up the gain when he was in the smiths. it would have been shit.

  • @sholto7 Hahahahahahahahahahahahaha Decapitated and Gojira? Quit trolling me, I'm already crying from laughing too hard.

  • @JustinShreds well that just proves my point doesn't it? only a complete dildo with no idea about real metal would say that. where i come from people like you often get glassed for saying things like that. ordinarily i'd ask what you consider to be real metal but in this case there would be no point.

  • @sholto7 Hahahahaha, real metal comes from California... where everything is better.

  • Are you in a band?

  • played very well....and the guy talking about what real metal is. i didn't know there was fake metal

  • That sounds pretty good out of a Crate cab. Imagine how much better it would sound with Celestion's!

  • Sounds good to me. Almost a killswitch engage, unearth style metalcore tone. I am actually getting that amp and will try it out with my new 8 string. I think it should sound pretty good.

  • What tuning are you playing in sir ?

  • Not that its going to solve this bitchfest, but its all some form of metal... hardcore, deathcore, metalcore, death metal, Djent, etc.

  • Regarding your interest in a Mesa Cab for this head; I played this head with various cabs to try and find the closest thing to the sound that I wanted, i.e. Crisp Clean Tone, Warm Bluesy sound, Bright Jazzy Tone, Deep Crunch, Beefy Distortion etc. In my experience, I found that the Mesa Cab was too Bassy for the Line 6 Head. I went through about 10 different cabs and finally, I achieved the tone that I wanted with the Marshall 1960 Cab. Just a suggestion before you embark on your Cab Journey.

  • @JustinShreds and where do you think that came from? England you dickhead, New Wave Of British Heavy Metal or NWOBHM preceded all the bay area thrash scene plus i think you'll find that quite a large part of the american metal scene has its roots in punk. but this argument is boring...there's not enough personal insults being slung about.
