You must try not to believe the Tory party's spin on this. The DUP signalled their intention to vote WITH the gov't anyway, they merely held out in order to win some favors from the PM (which is perfectly normal procedure). The fact is that Brown gave up some small concessions to small fry MPs in order to pass a law which he believed in on principle. I see very little to criticize in this.
PS: The 'shitty' 28 days law was in fact pushed through by none other than a certain David Davis!! lol

The point I was making was that 28 days, all though I think that is also a shitty law, at least as far as I remember (and I don't rememeber that well so feel free to correct me) was not put through the house of commons in such a disgusting manner. Brown brbibing and doing deals with the DUP and Labour backbenchers to try and save his own political skin while giving away more of our freedom.
