I just had a L5/S1 microdiscectomy 2 weeks ago. I had immidiate relief after the surgery was done. I had undergone PT for 2 months with absolutely no relief of pain so my physician advised meto undergo surgery, and so I did. Today is day 14 after the surgery and I have exactly the same symptoms as before surgery so I started wondering if my piriformis muscle could really be irritated, and on my own I started stretching this muscle and have done so for two days now and I have so much relief alrdy
man you pritty much just described exactly whats happening to me , i have had bad back and butt pain that rarely goes down my leg but can become quite intense in my hip and butt for a few years now , i have gotten mri's and ct's and all they show is some mild scoliosis and mild degeneration , after watching this video i think i have piriformis syndrome, i am seeing my doctor after the weekend and im going to tell him about this because he has never even mentioned it , thank you for this video :)
PART 6 - I also find many of my lower body bones snapping back in place, such as when I lie down to do my piriformis stretches, and as I lower my lower back onto the floor, I hear my right side snap and then my left. Also, as I lie down with my legs bent, I place a pillow in between my knees and squeeze my knees together and I feel bones snapping into place in my inner thighs that radiates to my pubic bone. Thank you all, & to the Dr. if you have taken the time to read my symptoms. Cry 4 help
Part 5 - I am told I need muscle strethening but it is not possible without being disabled for weeks at a time with unbearable pain. I am currently on my crutches and have been for the past two days because I was walking down a flight of stairs with my book bag on my left shoulder, in which was not at a shocking weight. Maybe 1 text book and some folders. I am to the point where I do not trust that I only have a piriformis issue. If so, IS THIS COMMON? See part 6 ---- last one, I promise LOL
PART 4 - I am often scared merely to take a walk with my children who are 5 & 6 because I am terrified of the pain coming out of nowhere. Many times, I have taken a walk and then can't walk without crutches for weeks at a time. I have discomfort and mild pain evey single day, but some days are horrifying. I tried stretching and yoga as opposed to working out on the treadmil since that was a recommendation by doctors and Physical therapists, but my dilemma is that I CAN NOT exercise. See part 5
that is what exactly happened to me.
