It's been a slow week for mobile news. Perhaps it's the calm before the storm of Mobile World Congress. You can feel a sense of anticipation — a sense that a lot of news will soon be announced. Companies are keeping things tight, for the most part, but there is so much going on that they are bursting at the seams. And with this type of pressure, it's impossible to avoid leaks.

Just like in your plumbing, leaks can be messy, and while we don't necessarily have to break out the mop, we do feel compelled to speculate about certain photos, and what these photos allegedly say or don't say about an upcoming product. While speculation may or may not be a productive exercise, it does allow us a chance to dream. Will one of these companies finally get it right? Only time will tell.

and while I do really wish I could get that speed, it would be largely useless to me. I'm sure there are a couple of usage scenarios that would need that much data on the mobile network (LTE dongles for example) a majority of people don't. I wish carriers would work on getting everywhere up to even as low as 3Mbit/s before pushing for ridiculous speeds that are mostly unnecessary. For reference, I'm from the UK.

7Mbit/s down is 2010 speed. 30Mbit/s up and down is 2012 LTE.

In Czech Republic on an iPhone 4S using Vodafone's network we can reach easily 7Mbit/s down. LTE is relative.

Vlad's imaging quality is probably because he's streaming from London to the US — his data streamed to G+ servers on the East near Dan and Chris. I'm surprised the quality isn't worse.

Definitely. It's an iffy move, but certainly a logical pairing. We'll have to wait and see I guess. I will say, though, that I'm decently excited for BB10 devices. I'm in the market for a new phone, but I may want to wait until specs are refreshed in the current line-up of OEM products. Buying a 2012 phone doesn't seem right for some reason.

Yeah, I don't know if it would be a good move, but its certainly the pairing that came to my mind. Microsoft is sitting on a giant pile of cash, it loves enterprise, and it has a mobile problem that BB's hardware might help solve.

If Microsoft bought up BB's software (or hardware) business, it would be a good move I feel.

Vlad, I don't mean to be mean or anything, but your webcam is really terrible. Is there anyway for you to improve the quality of it?
