right hand twist grip was the advance and retard control.
these engines are amazing we ran one all day with no cooling whatso ever-no airflow and it would not stop-we did this several times

10 pounds newzealand way back in the 60s
-
@dogsdinna 10 pund? is that British money?
-
my dad and i used to buy them for 10 pound -we would paint them tune them then sell them for 25 pound. never stop at an intersection whilst in gear and with your foot on the clutch cause if you over balanced your foot would come of the clutch and you would shoot through te intersection-i also have a original hard cover army manual for one of these.contains every part number and procedure.

Awesome bike !! Absolutely beautiful

sounds REAL nice!
No the left hand throttle was a carryover fro all indian motorcycles. The orignal motorcycle controls came off of Curtiss airplanes adn were used directly on the Indian mototrcycles then eventually updated ofr motorcycle specific use but Indian maintained the left hand throttle.
