Whips take 8 dance counts (beats). The basic wip can be counted 1, 2, 3 and 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8. Step wise it can be represented as: walk, walk, tripple step, walk, walk, tripple step. The WCS suggar push and basic side passes are based on 6 counts (beats). The basic sugar push can be counted 1,2, 3 and 4, 5 and 6 and step wise as walk, walk, tripple step, tripple step. Swing dances are done to music based on 4/4 time. Waltz is based on 3/4. I hope this helps.
