Me playing ACE 64KB version on Commodore Plus/4 - 1986
ACE is for Air Combat Emulator.

A brilliant combat flight sim for the Plus/4. There was also a 16KB version available but the 16K version wasn't really good. Anyway you could play the 64KB version on the C16 with ram extension.
As you can hear this game "speaks". And for 8bit computer, especially the Plus/4 with TED sound it was well done.
As a pilot you can chosse to battle against enemy planes, ground or naval targets. In "Multirole" (which I choosed in this video) you can battle against all of them.

ACE was also available on C64.
Plus a sequel named "ACE2" which maybe is worth another review. ;-)

  • I spent hours and hours playing this! Thanks for the vid!

  • @bphendri: This ISN'T the 64 version, it is the Plus/4 version. Although it is still a 64k game (one of the few which existed for the Plus/4), the Plus/4 was inferior to the 64, or so I have heard. That is probably why there are no runway lines.

  • it's the father of Mobius One

  • I used to love playing this. I had both the plus/4 and the C-16 version (my dad bought me the wrong version for christmas). I remember the hills/mountains never poped up above the horizon like they did in the CBM-64 version.

  • Refueling in the air was hard but possible. Sometimes it would take you to the other side of the map just to get a full tank if you don't get a "COLLISION WARNING" . There were no save game on these games so you would have to play 'till the early hours of the morning, leave your c64 on, go to bed and finish it the next day. Every time I crashed I'd jump out of my seat. Best crash experience ever. Everyone enjoyed these games as kids. I was in my mid 20's....lol

  • "Eject eject engine destroyed!" I had a Plus/4 and this was my favourite game. Others I loved were Fire Ant, Saboteur and that 4 game pack which had Jump Jet, Las Vegas (fruit machine), a flight simulator (737?) and something else.

  • when i was 5 and my bro was 13, he played this game very often and i remember that he was able to refuel his aircraft in the air

  • Best of the best !!!! Nothing else to say...

  • great vid thx! one of a games of my childhood
