I need serious help here people. For some reason, Windows Media clips I have downloaded off the internet skips to another point on the seek bar when I click somewhere different in the seek bar on Windows Media Player. More info in this clip.

  • All fixed now. It's just a matter of how the codecs are set up. I changed splitters in Shark007's codecs I had installed and there was a remarkable change in the result of the playback once I re-downloaded the video. The result is now it only skips backwards a couple of seconds or so rather than skipping forwards half an hour or so. Thanks for all the advice.

  • I'd say most likely due to RAM or CPU.

    I assume the video is long, and high quality.

    So WMP it can't keep all information current or proccess the information fast enough, so it skips to a different spot or stops to prevent the program from lagging or stop responding.

    So in other words, you can't really fix it, unless you upgrade your computer.
