The Way of Christ celebrates the total involvement of God in the intimacy and intricacy of each person, community and culture. Sacred Posture, the DVD from which this extract is taken, offers you a simple opportunity to integrate body with spirit, movement with meditation and creativity with consciousness.

The DVD may be ordered from the website: www.contemplativefire.org

The Revd. Philip Roderick is an Anglican priest, educator and percussionist who lectures and leads workshops extensively in the United States and the UK. He is the founder-director of the Quiet Garden Movement (www.quietgarden.co.uk) and Contemplative Fire (www.contemplativefire.org).

  • In the past, God's people prayed in mind, spirit and BODY. God made our bodies with a huge range of movements not limited to just hands together, eyes closed, so why not be able to love God with your BODY as well as spirit, mind and heart, Luke 10:27?

Calling it tai-chi, yoga or pagan shows an ignorance of the Bible, together with these other practices. However, if that's your only reference point, I understand your concerns.

Study some prayer postures in the Bible for more info - 2Tim2:15

  • @john146only yea your right they should flop on the floor and run round the Church screaming praise Jesus then make believe they are drunk in the spirit and start gyrating..

  • AAgghh- Tai chi / middle class "retreat" fever- dangerously using the Lords prayer in a way He never intended- please dont insult His Holiness by combining pagan rituals with His precious word.

  • Hey ! Do this... Feel it ... Then you get it...!

  • This is very cool.... I don't see any reason we shouldn't be able to give at least 4 minutes of meditative prayer to God..... I will definitely be using this video during my meditation time tomorrow
