The best John Fahey performance of "Requiem for Mississippi John Hurt", based on an old spiritual, "Jesus is a Dying-Bed Maker" most notable performed by Charley Patton.

  • thanks for posting, what a great recording......gotta find this

  • that picture is freaking awesome, as is the song

  • does anyone know where i can get the tab for this?

  • Holy crap, this is sooooooooo good.

  • I believe this is off of the live performance recorded at the Matrix, San Francisco 1968/69. Album titled "The great Santa Barbara Oil Slick", an essential record of a moment in time that will never repeat. That same evening the headliner was Sandy Bull, and it was recorded and released (both on the Water label) as "Still Valentine's Day 1969". Damn. Those were the days!

  • It was on his Vanguard album, "The Yellow Princess".

  • God laid a hand upon his head

  • noirdeuil thanks for putting this up!

  • what record is this from?

  • Brilliant. Nothing more to say, just brilliant.
