An historic and emotional year for the U.S. WNT ended in glory and gut-wrenching drama, but the team once again helped grow the game in the United States and around the world. ussoccer.com's video looks back at 2011.

  • This team is the Epitome of sportsmanship, class, athleticism, and heart. I've never seen a team captivate a nation the way they did and I think there are a lot of us out there that lost our minds when Abby scored versus Brazil. In the span of the 2011 Women's World Cup, they inspired the next generation of soccer players. This team is perfect proof of what can happen if you follow your dreams.

  • These women truly are an inspiration. They are strong. They are a team. U S A always and forever...

  • Hello form Japan! U. S. WNT, what a team. Abby Wambach, what a woman! In every game there is a winner then there is one who lose; but there are only few who truly posses the honor and the spirit that a real winner can show, you know? Abby is like that. When Japanese WNT won the WC2011, we were amazed by the comments Abby and Hope gave---so strong, honorable, and beautiful. You guys are so great! Please know that now there are many fans of you guys here in Japan♡

  • what is the name of the song please...

  • lol, flag guy!!!

  • Why didn't they put any footage from the world cup? Just pictures? Anyways - best team - this made me cry a little - will always support them -3

  • Watching men's soccer its just 110 % about winning and it gets ugly with diving, hard fouls, and lately racism. When i watch this women's team they enjoy the game and you can tell. they're having fun out there. thats what soccer is supposed to be about. i cant help but feel good when i watch them play.

  • all i can say is that these ladies have inspired me to be a better player and i loove them all <3
