A heavily guarded preproduction factory near Detroit gears up to produce the first specimens of GM's all-electric car, an aerodynamic four-door sedan built around a 400-pound, six-foot-long battery that can go 40 miles between charges.

Last time I heard that if there was a problem in a GM only factory with say a bumper that won't fit in, you use a hammer. What kind of instruction is that? You make a car for perfection, not so you can take it to the junkyard next week!

who actually wants this low performance car. I could get a sports car for 30 grand. No telling how many years it takes to make up the cost to a gas car. But by that time, your battery will die and another 5 grand wasted.
