Agreed, public debate should move beyond the individual and the collective. Personally I'm not a fan of David Cameron, but I would be happy to see some radical decentrilization that understands people as social beings.
@colourmegone Not exactly. Look into Canada's political history for some examples of how they work in the real world, Red Tories have dominated our political outlook for centuries. The Progressive Conservative parties are the closest, but the Liberal Party of Canada, the so called "Big Red Tent" is also quite Red Tory, and even the Social Democratic NDP are influenced by the ideology in certain ways. It sounds impossible but that's only because you're not used to it and don't have any context.
Wow, this man needs to reread Rousseau, Hobbes, Locke, and Mill. I actually have some sympathy to his political ideas about a third way between state-centric and market centric political economy, but he is completely uncharitable in his reading of past philosophers, and is just romanticizing past-relations forms of authority and hierarchy.
Fat useless lying retarded complete and utter bullshit artist. No one with more than 2 brain cells to rub together falls for this "big society" bollocks, not even most of the tory scum.
Disraeli didn't free the workers to own capital! He had the bankers hand up his rear end puppet style like the current batch of goons in no 10!

Excellent work. I totally agree. Virtue is the only way forward.

here's a question; do the reds want to 'help' the poor, or do they strive to eliminate poverty, so that there will be no more poor to help?

"Progressive Conservatism" is an oxymoron.
