Squeaky floorboards are caused by loose boards rubbing against nails, or each other. It's not too much of a hassle for the amateur DIY er to fix.

  • @limballer Buy a new house

  • I installed my own floor. The guy at Lumber Liquidators told me I could glue it to tile; he was wrong. The floor looked great, but every day one more board started snapping each time I stepped on it. I tried various things, but gluing in a fondue stick into a hole with 45 degree offset at the center of each noisy zone worked best; I leveled them with a razor scraper. After the floor has been re-finished a couple of times it might even look normal again.

  • Moister, or your house is old as hell... lol

  • Counter sink the screws more and cover it with wood filler and use a stain pen of the matching colour after its dry and go over it.

  • my white pinewood floorboards have no cracks and no nails... the baby powder wont work and the nails would look horrible.

  • Great advice if you live in a deplorable slumb or shanty, but useless in a home less than 40 years old

  • Second is better, ha

  • first
