The Brazos River was at 23 feet creating waves and features that are rarely experienced. A real treat that it happened during the Hidalgo Falls Texas River Festival. It was windy and cold with difficult eddies and boil lines, but the few who ventured out there had a blast.

  • I have got a picture of me body surfing the "upstream smile" a little below the slide a about this same water level. Too much fun. There were 2 of my friends in the hole in their kayaks. I had decided to swim in it and film them. Paddled it many times at this level. 1 time a group of us rode a huge tree (root ball, branches leaves and all) from there to the highway crossing. We had our kayaks tied to the tree.

  • What a beautiful place! I've never seen the water this high - the moonlike rock formations are under water! I went once when Tany Orlando was still alive and it was open to the public - 2000. The water was very low and the rock formations very prominent. I wish I could go back, but access is blocked by his descendants.

  • i was there
