I call that an open face or maybe a modified open face.. top cut first always.. much easier than a humboldt, especially for those whose grandfathers weren't loggers... Better control, and easier to aim.. harder to bypass the face, easier to inspect, easier to adjust the gun, etc... a far superior cut to the humboldt for arborists, residential tree work or homeowners... the humboldt has some distince advantages in the woods when falling for timber... otherwise for accuracy.. see my last video
I have watched several of Tim Ard's videos. I have been cutting trees all my life and have to say he does a good job. So many people try to post instructional videos that are just way off from being correct.
HI dave, yes you are right, it is a conventional. Dont know what I was thinking. I was thinking of the face where both cuts are diagonal as convential. I guess using it is an Eastern or Southern thing.
They have lots of hardwoods with broad crowns, and also some of their woods will barberchair or fiber pull if the face is too closed. Unless you run areally thin hinge. So they un tell me.
haha lmao yall ignorant to much time for that is tha wood leave it connected and swing that bitch where u want it no matter how many video u just gotta get out there and do it to learn
A pre-ownership chainsaw course? Now that is an intelligent remark. I wish states would initiate such a practice, kinda like concealed-carry laws with handguns. Gotta pass B4 you can buy a saw. Would be a lot less dead white-collar types who decided to cut some firewood.
God I want that saw! What is it?

a humboldt takes the pie out of the stump not the butt of the log. that is most definitely a conventional face that no good cutter uses.
