Will and I were demoing our yet-to-be-announced Fuzz Face mods, and figured we'd throw up one of the new Weber Alnico-equipped 5F1-rebuilt Champs. The clips were recorded with an EV Raven through the Alesis Protrack and onto my iPhone. (No post-processing except raising the volume a bit.)

We (Memphis Dauphin) rip the PCB guts out of these 600s and wire them up PTP, either to '57 5F1 specs or to the original '49 Champion 600. The rebuilds are offered both as mod packages (i.e., send us your amp!) and new products you can buy from us (in other words, we buy 600s brand new, pull 'em apart, and offer a "brand new rebuild").

  • @muckinyoface, thanks! We don't really do kits--our builds are pretty much PTP (we do use a small eyelet board for the filter caps) so you do really have to know what you're doing to put one together.

If you're a very experienced builder, we can talk about a kit, but otherwise, sending it to us is your best bet. E-mail us directly at memphisdauphin@gmail.com to chat details!

@fenderkid6, yeah, since we don't sell kits, we don't sell 'em to the UK. You're welcome to ship it over, though!

  • i'd love to know how you did this..sounds great!

  • @bluez1981 Sorry for the delay, I've had some trouble replying via YouTube. Feel free to e-mail us at memphisdauphin@gmail.com for more info, but basically we gut the things and replace them with super high-quality, PTP handwired goodness!

The speaker change really helps, as well.

  • waterboy, thanks so much! I'll absolutely answer your questions on the site. Thanks for the interest!

  • Wow.. I have to say that sounds phenominal. Is there a kit to do this? I think this sound better than all the other mods/ conversions ive heard out therw although the videos i hears thdm on were not very good audio recordings. I was caught by how little noise there was in the luls of the recording. Very clean sounding amp. Please let me know what ways i can get this done? Kit or do i have to send my amp off to you. price tag? Any info will be much appreciated.

  • Hey, are you selling kits to the UK?

  • Nice mod, did you go full point to point like the vintage ones or with a eyelet board?

  • Ufff, fantastic!

  • I left you some questions about these mods on you blog. Sounds great!
