After changing my thermostat I noticed high and sporadic temperatures from my Defi coolant temp. gauge mounted in the upper radiator hose. Temperatures would fluctuate quickly from 180*F - 210*F at times. I found air pockets in the system to be the problem and here is the solution to bleeding them out.

*Most procedures call for running the engine up to operating temperature with the radiator cap off. I did this at first and this procedure here is what I did 3 times AFTER that procedure and driving the car around a good bit. I would still recommend my procedure every day or so after refilling the coolant system.

  • I woud like ot add it is better to bleed the system with the motor running this way all the air escapes out of the motor as well.

  • @joshds25 I agree, as stated in the expanded description. That is the typical bleeding procedure, and this is what I did after that procedure was unable to remove all of the air.

  • unlike humans, squirrels have a digestive system that won't absorb the antifreeze, so you can't kill them with it. It passes right through them.
