Torque is for towing.  Car is already light weight, so it's not an issue unless you weigh 600 lbs.

@FoxhoundJay Horsepower is how fast your car applies torque... If your car is throwing to much torque and it doesn't have enough horsepower to handle it then your acceleration will suffer cause it will be hitting its top speed before the engine can raise it by working harder to allow the force from torque to go through it. Your mission in a race (I'm talking about dragging anyway) is to keep torque going as long as possible.

Dude in the top comment doesn't know what hes talking about... Horsepower is how fast your car can go as in top speed and torque is how fast your car gets there as in acceleration... horsepower doesn't kick in til half way through any race so torque matters a lot

@firechicken76 But stil you have seating for 4 in relatively fine comfort and it actually has a trunk :-) If a 2 seater would be as you suggest but otherwise it is just uderstandably weighted. Chassis is quite sturdy for this setup... Look at Acura NSX - fewer compromises and stil weight is only slightly under 3000 too - weights about 2800 to 2970+ depending on year (newer is lighter). So no problem there in my oppinion.
