Brake failure totals Mazdaspeed 3 at race track

October 2007, Pacific Raceways, Kent, WA near Seattle. Brake failure at 135 mph - car leaves track and hits tire wall at 100-110 mph. Car - totaled, driver - sore but OK, learns important lesson about checking brake pad thickness before track day.

MS6 no, but one better. Actually, it was cosmic blue. I did buy a replacement 2008 silver MS3 but sold it after I swore off track days for the sake of my wife and daughter. First thing they tell you in a HPDE, that first you ONLY pull over and stop if you see a red flag, and secondly you NEVER get out of your car (unless on fire). True the other driver may be hurt, but you getting out could cause another crash, and more injuries.

Absolutely true. Neverhteless, I thank my lucky stars that these drivers were smart enough to ignore the guidelines, as my car was still running and I was suspended helpless in LOTS of pain. They righted my car, shut it off and tended to me. Bless their reckless bones.

Horrible accident, but for those newbies watching - never ever ever get out of your car while on the track unless you are on fire.
