Testing the Ivory II Steinway (Upgrade) Part 2
This time I tried to deal with:
Sustain Resonance
Sympathetic Resonance
Soft Pedal
Pedal Noise
Dynamics (18 Layers)

One has to listen to this in the volume of a real grand piano to get all the details!

  • Oh wow I think I actually heard the soft pedal. Did they implement the soft pedal well or is it just another very mellow filter like many samples out there?

    Beautiful improv! ♫♪

  • @Vayshen It is an real 'una corda' sample!

  • Are you self taught?

  • @RockerDuk

    Both: self an 'foreign'.

  • Do you have monitors or a seperate headphone mix? And how? What is your setup, would you mind filling us in?

    Beautiful playing.

  • Superb playing.

It's amazing how we can hear the sympathetic vibrations as some keys are held down.

  • Which Steinway patch and what are the adjustments to the settings? Keyset, etc.

  • Love your playing man! I really dig the mix of Scriabinesque and jazz harmonies. I have a question about the velocity layers - as an obviously accomplished pianist, do you feel that you notice a restriction in dynamic expression with 18 samples? Is it enough - or do you think that you would need something closer to Vienna Imperial's 100+ samples to really feel like you're playing a grand piano?

  • hey...braucht man für ivory ein audio interface, oder schafft der mac das so?

  • Just a fantastic Steinway emulation.

  • hey ive already got ivory 1.5 and am considering getting version 2 but will have to pay the full price for it as wouldnt be able to get the upgrade price as a friend lent me the software and i no longer have ilok however the ivory 1.5 ive got still works. Do you think it would be worth me paying the full price for ivory 2 when i have ivory 1.5, how much better is it in terms of the dynamics :-D

  • I love your playing style ....

  • Hello i am thinking about to buy a Studiologic Numa like you. The Studiologic Numa NERO has wooden keys (inner of the keys) but is possible thats it puts more weigth and the response could be diferent (in a negative view if you prefer more lighter keys ) i dont know if this is true. Has you tested the Nero model? thanks very much.
