Exotic Enchanting Environments ... Living in harmony with nature.

Two of the oldest congregations in the State of Illinois, located in the inner city, near the University of Chicago, decided to merge and build a Sanctuary ... a Chapel / Garden / Temple environment for their families who had chosen to stay and invest themselves in an integrated community.

About a quarter of a century later, Barack and Michelle Obama decided to invest themselves in that same integrated community with that same commitment.

They purchased a home directly across the street from KAM Isaiah Israel to raise their family.

CONGREGATION 
KAM / ISAIAH ISRAEL 

is a City of Chicago and State
of Illinois Historic Landmark.

The peace and gentleness of the environments created for them might best be described by a poem written by one of their 5th grade students upon first viewing and experiencing the garden and building complex:



The new garden came to me,

Just like going back home.

The whole feeling it gives you,

Makes your mind just want to roam.



When I saw the trees

And felt the cool breeze,



It seemed a hand

came to the land.



It sheltered all the garden

And all the people too.

It seemed that it had something

That protected me and you ...
