You probably hear this every day in the street - cars moving past you sound completely different than when they just stand still when the light is red.

Why does that happen? And why is that important? Well, here's a nice explanation and a great experiment you can do for yourself to test the "Doppler Effect" - the phenomenon that changes the frequency of waves in movement.
