The sad news out of Zanesville, Ohio where all those defenseless animals were set loose and then killed made me want to finish a video I've been playing with for a couple of months, for one of my all-time favorite E.L.O. songs, "Jungle" from Electric Light Orchestra's 1977 album, Out Of The Blue.
I think about all those beautiful animals terrified and lost in a world they don't know and the horrors they and so many animal lovers were put through...all because they were allowed to be placed in cages and neglected by a society with a moral and ethical obligation to protect them.
This song and video is my little tribute to the beauty of all the other "passengers" on this big blue ship.....living free in their natural habitat.
Like Jeff said:
'Wondrous is our great blue ship
That sails around the mighty sun
And joy to everyone that rides along!'
Indeed.
"Jungle" was released in 1977 on Electric Light Orchestra's double album Out Of The Blue. I have always loved the song and it's celebratory message.....a really unique and cool track. The remaster really brings out the massive percussion work that the band put into the piece......there is so much going on! Jeff Lynne has an extraordinary talent and has created an amazing body of work.
Hope you like it!
[Lyrics]
I was standing in the jungle, I was feeling alright
Mmmhmmm, Mmmhmmm
I was wondering in the darkness, in the middle of the night
Mmmhmmm, Mmmhmmm
The moon began to shine, I saw a clearing ahead
Mmmhmmm, Mmmhmmm
But what's that going on, I think I'm outta my head
Mmmhmmm, Mmmhmmm
Chooka chooka hoo la ley
Looka looka koo la ley
A hundred animals were gathered 'round in the night
Mmmhmmm, Mmmhmmm
And they were singing out a lovely song under the pale moonlight
Mmmhmmm, Mmmhmmm
I stood and stared for quite a while
Then a lion sang to me and smiled:
'Come join us if you so desire.'

They sang
Chooka chooka hoo la ley
That's what they sang
Looka looka koo la ley
Chooka chooka hoo la ley
That's what they sang
Looka looka koo la ley
I said now please explain the meaning of this song you sing
Mmmhmmm, Mmmhmmm
'Wondrous is our great blue ship
That sails around the mighty sun
And joy to everyone that rides along!'
They sang
Chooka chooka hoo la ley
That's what they sang
Looka looka koo la ley
And they danced
Pretty soon I knew the tune and
We sat and sang under the moon
And the jungle rang in joyful harmony
They sang
Chooka chooka hoo la ley
That's what they sang
Looka looka koo la ley
Chooka chooka hoo la ley
That's what they sang
Looka looka koo la ley
'Wondrous is our great blue ship
That sails around the mighty sun
And joy to everyone that rides along!'
Wow! Another well-done video. I hope all who come here read your post in the "more info" section. I got this double album the first week it came out and this song grabbed me and became my favorite from the album. For at least a month I listened to it several times a day, and was a little disappointed the radio never picked up on it. This and "Boy Blue" are my all-time favorite ELO songs.
Peace and long life

@cyyyggnus
Thanks cyyyggnus for checking it and for the comment! Our taste in music must have been pretty synced on this one because as much as I loved everything on the album, it was "Jungle" that grabbed me the hardest and that I favored the most....yeah, it's such a great tune and I also remember wondering why it wasn't released as a single..many contenders on this album as it's loaded with great tunes.
LOVE "Boy Blue" as well hope to do something from Eldorado soon.
Thanks again!
