Wonderful revolutionary and black key.the fortes in the butterfly were clickety.percussive sound of hand on keys to hammeralso it might be upper registers noticed on upper notes in ocaen etude. Will be finer recording if this percussive element controlled. This painist has a fine technique and more musicianship than one hears .Great to hear this imagistic and emotional playing! . So very musical !!! Why is it so few pianists have this essential element. hundreds of recordings of these.

I have this CD and it is a MUST-have! The performances on this CD (as in ALL of Mr. Erez' CD's) are absolutely PHENOMENAL and will just blow you away! I play this very frequently, they are so POWERFUL! And the softer pieces are played with feeling and tenderness, and are the most beautiful renditions I ever heard...

Dear Mr. Erez -
I have just purchased your CD of the Études, and am astonished for many reasons: the clarity of your playing, pedaling, your commitment to playing in time with a steady and driving pulse, your obvious musicianship and scholarship. I'm wondering: do you have a favorite or favorites amongst the Études?
juzzyfuzz 6 months ago
@juzzyfuzz Thank you. I do have favourites amongst the Études, but they are more because of sentimental reasons. For example, Opus 25 No. 2 was the first one I studied, Opus 10 No. 3 was the last piece I reviewed with the late Antonin Kubalek. They are all important, and when studied as a whole, they force you to be prepared for almost anything in the piano repertoire.

Tzvi, are these played on the 1912 Bosendorfer?
1963mathetes 8 months ago
@1963mathetes The Etudes were performed on a nine foot German Steinway. My 1912 Bosendorfer is at my studio, and I wanted a concert hall recording. I'm currently preparing to record the Chopin Preludes, and haven't decided what to use yet.
