Expressing Yourself by Blogging
Blogging is an excellent way to express yourself.
You can write whatever you feel like.
You do not have to worry about technical stuff like html
You can simply write to your heart's content
But how do you ensure that your blog posts are actually read by other people?
In this presentation I am giving some tips on writing blog posts

I had my first domain name and website sometime in 2002.
At the time I was not aware of blogs
I had to learn a bit of html to make any change on my webpages.
Then I came to know about the blogs
And it saved me hours and hours of working on html
The only technical skill required was simple typing.
Dealing with plug-ins and templates was easy to learn.
And I produced blogs by dozens.
I created blogs on Google blogspots and also on my own domains.
It was real fun churning out so much content effortlessly
But it was another matter to get readers to my blogs
It took time to figure out how attract visitors to my blog
I realized that any one tool doesn't remain effective forever
You have to keep evolving

What I am going to share here is just a small fraction of what I have learned
But they are effective

There are several methods of promoting your blogs
Some of methods of promoting your blogs are
1. Creating a good content, present it well and let the search engines take notice -- I have found this to be the most effective method of promoting the blog.
2. Getting your readers to tweet the blog post, "like" it and share it in social media
3. Broadcasting your blog to RSS directories, ezine directories, press realease
4. Getting backlinks from your own accounts with Googel, Yahoo, Facebook, Twitter and other social media
5. Encouraging your readers to post comments, trackbacks and interacting with your readers
These are just some of the methods that I can think of just now.
Remember it takes time to grow a faithful readership, regular visitors to your blog.
It is necessary to keep posting regularly.
This not only brings your readers back to your blog, it also helps your blog in ranking higher with search engines.
Now let us come back to the content -- the most important ingredient of your blog
You want your content to attract your visitors as well as search engines.
There are no fixed rules as such, just few guidelines based on my experience.
First of all you have to decide what you are writing about
It is a good idea to dedicate your blog to a particular field
If you have interest in additional areas, you create a blog for each area of your interest
But each blog should relate to one field
The more passionate you are about what you are writing, the more forceful will be your posts
It should not be forgotten that you are expressing yourself -- your personality should come out
It is important to give something of value in your blog posts
Something your readers will learn from your posts
It is very good idea to write about your own experience --
And how the lesson you narrating helped you in resolving your problems
You will agree that you keep learning all the time
From ebooks, from other blogs and websites, from articles, from webinars or simply from your conversations with others
All these inputs can become contents of your blog posts
Start with a title that will draw attention of your readers -- perhaps a common problem or a solution
Then relate with your experience
And then provide solution clearly indicating the benefits the readers will get
Break your posts into small paragraphs -- each not longer than 3 lines
Insert bullet points
The length of the post could be 500 -- 800 words
These techniques make the blog post easier to read
I would not suggest that you should worry too much about keywords or keyword density
Just concentrate on the consistency of your post
You would expect your readers to take some action after reading your post.
You have to ask specifically what you want from your readers
You can ask them to tweet your post, "like" it on Facebook, share with other social media
Icons of these social sites should be easily available to the readers
You can also encourage the readers to post comments, fill in opt-in form if you have one, and subscribe to your RSS Feed
Before we conclude lets recapitulate some important points
The most important is that blog posts should be written regularly -- at least 3 times a week
The post should provide quality content
Relate with your own story
And ask visitors to take actions you would like them to take.
Let your blog project your personality -- use it as a way to express yourself.
