We can now boot an unmodified and unopened AppleTV from an external USB hard drive. We're running the same modified OS as in my last video, but this time it's on an external USB hard drive with a modified partition type and one small file change.

  • can dis run mac programs?

  • @Tru3Be3st Yes. But it only has 256MB RAM, so it's best for simple programs.

  • Uhm... I am currently installing 10.4.9 on a drive that I plan to do this with--

But I just got smacked in the face with a brick wall:

How the FUCK am I going to control this? Rofl

One USB port, dedicated to the OS drive.

I have a USB Keybaord (Logitech G15) with two USB ports.

Would the AppleTV Notice the USB drive through this thing's Built in USB hub?

    I really hope so...

Along with the mouse (I'm sure it'll notice THAT at least) when it finally starts Finder.

    Guess I'll see. =O

  • Yeah, you need a USB 2 hub. That will allow you to have a HD as well as a keyboard and mouse. Just make sure it is USB 2; or it will be INSANELY slow.

  • the mark's geekly ramblings site doesn't work anymore

  • I got hacked. It will return when I have time away from RL to repair it.
