Dennis Fitch recounts the gripping tale of United Airlines Flight 232. Though on board the DC-10 aircraft as a passenger, Fitch, a senior pilot himself, was called into action after the hydraulics failed and was crucial to the effort of Captain Al Haynes and crew in keeping the craft airborne. A masterful story teller, Fitch explores the personal and technical side of the incident.

God bless him, and may he Rest In Peace. I've heard of this story many times; unfortunately, it's not told very often today, so many people have forgotten it. When I first heard of this story, I remember hearing that one of the key players was a passenger who "just happen to be on board, who himself was a pilot for United." I've always wondered who that person was, and now I know. "You killed my daughter." What an awful thing to say; I wish that woman nothing but pain and misery, the hag.

RIP Denny Fitch. I've seen sfd and aci and that somewhat cheesy movie about the rescue and another documentary about this crash that I can't remember the title, but IMO this is the best documentary featuring the crash of flight 232. =)

A very moving and touching story. Over the years when the DC-10 and the MD-11 were still flying I probably did everything possible to get on a different piece of equipment other than the DC-10 because of its history. But if I could have had the pleasure of riding with Denny at the controls I know it would have been alright. It should have crashed but it didn't. Great story and my hats off to Denny, Al Haynes, Sully (US Air), and all the other great pilots!

no one in these videos seems to note that the Sioux City fire department held a training drill with this *exact* scenario two weeks before the crash
the hero pilots got the people down, but the FD got the people out and to the hospital. they deserve as much credit as the air crew

Denny Fitch is one those rare individuals who embodies so many good qualities that it's difficult to honor the man with words. The guy saved a lot of lives that day....may he rest in peace.
