@wotancat1. You are correct, of course. I don't know why I made that mistake. Gluck's librettist was Italian. I do love ballet, and opera. This production was a most impressive blend of two great art forms.

@palubob, you,re wrong. First version ( in 1762 ), was in italian language ( in 1762 was unknow the idea of german opera ), after, the second version was in french language, never was this opera in german language, this version is distorted, but it,s amazing this production, I,m not fan of ballets

She is singing in German because it was written in GErman (1762). This is from a truly superb performance of the Bausch "danced opera" at Palais Garnier in Feb 2008. There are also subtitles in English on the beautiful DVD. Here Wesseling is singing to the body of Eurydice (Gillot) who is lying atop Julia Kleiter, the voice of Eurydice.

Unbedingt weiter Opern hören! Am Besten live in einem Opernhaus angucken. Die live-Erlebnisse sind oft unvergesslich.

ouhman..deutsche reformoper oder die barocke oper...ist doch.soo herrlich!
mich nervt diese konsumverblödete inhaltslose musik ,die keine intension hat!
